Triplis Hag
From NWSEC Collaborative Workspace
[edit] Description
Triplis Hags are monstrous humanoids, more insect or arachnid than human, the twisted result of Dr. Martin Triplis’ MESH experimentations. Those examined or otherwise observed in the wild thus far are best described as roughly upright hybrids of scorpions, spiders and humans. All are armed with at least one large pincer, grotesque mandibles and at least six, usually eight limbs. Their limbs are highly functional, not superfluous leftovers of poor genetic tampering, making them extremely deadly predators. In addition to the significant physical gifts of their insect and arachnid genetics, they carry a debilitating venom, capable of subduing and killing animals more than twice their size in seconds. Human behaviors and emotions seem to have been lost completely, however their intelligence is clear and their aptitude for coordinating themselves, especially while hunting, is remarkable.
The first of the hags were discovered during a raid of Dr. Triplis’ facility on the outskirts of Greater Mexico City where several dozen were being held. During the investigation it became clear that Triplis had conducted hundreds of experiments, MESHing insect and arachnid genetic material with humans in a multitude of aggressive procedures, creating an untold number of what could be described in no other way than simply, hags. Not only had Triplis created these monsters but, when done studying them and refining his work, he simply released them into the wild.
Several packs of hags are believed to be inhabiting the wilds near Mexico City and several others have almost certainly moved south, deeper into the wilds.
[edit] Behavior
Very little is known about the behavior of Triplis Hags. What is known suggests they are not characteristically aggressive or violent, although their hunting activity has been described by researchers as unnecessarily savage once they have gained an advantage over their prey. Most terrifyingly, they seem to have an appetite for human prey, a taste that has brought these nightmarish creatures into frequent and deadly conflict with freezone communities near Greater Mexico City.
They seem to have very little social order, operating independently or in loose groups. Their primary, if not soul, motivation seems to be hunger. Observers note they have voracious appetites and are constantly in search of food, even resorting to cannibalism in the captivity of Triplis’ facility. Those observed in the wild seem willing to take down any available prey, usually stalking their intended meal and using stealth to move as close as possible before rushing in upon their victim. Hags move with incredible speed, perhaps their greatest advantage in combat, and close quickly in order to bite and deploy their toxic venom as quickly as possible. Their considerable strength allows a single hag to easily take down cattle and other large mammals, making most humans trivial rivals in close combat.
