About Us
Since 2137 the NWSEC and its members have dedicated themselves to the pursuit of scientific and engineering excellence and the establishment of global standards for both.
Headquartered in Lavana Free City, the NWSEC is the world's leading center for cooperative research and information sharing. Our members are among the world's most talented and respected scientists and engineers.
We wish to thank our partners at Mind Storm Labs for their continuing support.
Our Mission
The NWSEC is a multifaceted organization with an evolving mission.
First, we are committed to re-establishing global standards for science and engineering from the ground up. We work closely with professionals around the world to ensure standards, whether they be simple units of measure or complex ethics issues, are developed, tested, documented and shared. We also work closely with the heads of many of the world's City States and other authoritative bodies to ensure compliance with NWSEC standards.
Second, we serve as a hub for the scientific and engineering communities as they embark on the challenging rediscovery of the world in which we live. We are committed to facilitating intelligent information exchange and providing our members with useful tools for advancing science and engineering.

Coastal Communities Terrorized
May 21, 2280
Report by: Victor Lumsden, NWSEC Field Office - Roma Prov
Coastal communities surrounding the Mediterranean sea have begun flooding the NWSEC with reports of attacks by monstrous crab-like creatures venturing onto land in the dead of night.
The Barcelona Reconstruction Commune was the first community to report attacks, but towns and villages as far east as the Isle of Cyprus have come under attack suggesting the entire Mediterranean has become home to a new species of aquatic predator able to and unafraid of venturing onto land in search of food.
Initial reports describe the beasts as "cattle-sized" black crabs which raced across land as quickly as horses. Recent reports have suggested the creatures have powerful tentacles beneath their head, a soft squid-like under-body and flexible tail.
The monsters have claimed thousands of large livestock, attacking in the dark of night with gigantic claws able to crush their prey with ease. So far human casualties have been limited but survivors claim the creatures are unafraid and incredibly durable. Some claim they are sensitive to light although no conclusive evidence supports this.
The NWSEC asks anyone with photos or video of the creatures to please contact us.

Creature Discovery Contest
June 23, 2280
Report by: Mind Storm Labs - HQ
Mind Storm Labs is pleased to announce our first Community Contribution Contest. Community involvement is very important to us and we want you to help shape the Alpha Omega world. We are offering community members the unique opportunity to have your creature creations become a part of the official Alpha Omega creature manual entitled The Encountered.
Here’s how it works:
Submit your creature creations to The Encountered section of the NWSEC Collaborative Workspace (CW). Submissions must include a description of the creature, an explanation of its behavior and its suggested Game Mechanics (stats). Original artwork is also welcome.
The Help page can get you on your way and there are already several creatures on the CW to get you started. To be considered for inclusion in the Alpha Omega Creature Manual, submissions must be posted on the CW no later than July 31, 2008.
Winning selections will become a part of The Encountered and will be featured in its pages in same visually stunning fashion you expect from Mind Storm Labs.
Winners will be chosen by Mind Storm Labs and officially announced at Gen Con Indy in August.
Get creative and have fun!
